The Thurber Center Series is a quarterly series featuring authors with an Ohio connection. All events take place at Thurber Center, 91 Jefferson Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215. Each reading is followed by a book signing.About the Book and AuthorOur inaugural event features Lee Martin for his collection of short stories, The Mutual UFO Network. Each story focuses on the secrets we all keep and the consequences that come from bringing the truth to the surface. It explores the intricate relationships people form in order to sustain life, and the redemptive qualities in even the most complex misfits and loners.Martin is the Pulitzer Prize Finalist author of The Bright Forever and four other novels: Quakertown, River of Heaven, Break the Skin, and Late One Night. He has also written several memoirs and his fiction and nonfiction have appeared in such places as Harper’s, Creative Nonfiction, The Georgia Review, The Kenyon Review, and others. He is the winner of the Mary McCarthy Prize in Short Fiction and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council. He teaches in the MFA Program at The Ohio State University, where he was the winner of the 2006 Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching.TicketsAll tickets: $15Please NoteThis event is not part of the Evenings with Authors Series.
