The Nelsonville Music Festival is having a party in Columbus! Music from Algerian desert blues purveyors Imarhan and more TBA along with discounted NMF tickets available that night. Imarhan’s new album Temet comes out in February, and the band have been haralded as “the new wave of Taureg music”, bringing fuzz, funk and a shimmering haze to the desert blues sounds brought to the world by elder statesmen Tinariwen. Imarhan, meaning ‘the ones I care about’, started out around 2008, a loose collection of friends who began to play together. Their reflects their cultural and generational background; dry guitar riffs, pop melodies and pan-African rhythms which draw on traditional Tuareg music, African ballads and the modern pop and rock the band heard growing up.FREE SHOW!
