About the Event:

THURSDAY, APRIL 5Cultivating Children's CreativityInstructor: Niki GnezdaCreativity is the skill of the future, yet our children have limited opportunities to think creatively and practice the creative process. This workshop will help adults (parents, grandparents, teachers, caregivers) who work with children learn how to encourage children’s creative development. We will explore the brain science of creativity, the creative process, creative art and writing activities, and suggestions for responding to children’s creativity. Then we will make and bind journals to teach us a way to provide our children with unlimited possibilities for their creative writing and art.INSTRUCTOR: Niki Gnezda is a creativity specialist and retired art teacher with a Ph.D. in creativity studies. She is the author of Teaching Difficult Students: Blue Jays in the Classroom (Rowman & Littlefield), professional articles, and award-winning poems. Niki also volunteers as an art therapist for Columbus’ Homeless Families Foundation. Her website is classes are three-hour in-depth sessions; each master class is $150. All sessions are held at Thurber Center, 91 Jefferson Avenue. You must be 18 to participate. All registrations are non-refundable.
