About the Event:

MONDAY, APRIL 9Ready, Set, Query: Finding a Literary AgentInstructor: Kristen LepionkaSo you finished your manuscript—now what? If you want to pursue a path toward traditional publishing, you'll want a literary agent to represent you. This workshop will explore what an agent does, why it's good to have one, and (most importantly) how to go about finding the right agent for you. We'll go over what makes a great query letter and how to write one, developing a synopsis for your work, industry etiquette, and what to do if you get "the call" from an agent who is interested in your work. Bring a 1-2 paragraph description of your manuscript and get ready to dive into the crazy journey that happens after you type THE END.INSTRUCTOR: Kristen Lepionka is the author of the Roxane Weary mystery series (Minotaur Books), which launched in 2017 with The Last Place You Look. Its follow-up, What You Want to See, releases on May 1. Kristen's writing has been selected for Grift, Black Elephant, Shotgun Honey, and McSweeney's Internet Tendency. She is represented by Jill Marsal of Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.Adult Writing Workshops are held on Mondays from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Thurber Center, 91 Jefferson Avenue.
