Event
Columbus Jazz Orchestra's Great American Songbook series - Guitar Summit
Friday, September 24, 2010 - Saturday, September 25, 2010
From Johnny B. Goode to Jimi Hendrix, we'll explore the impact of the guitar on American music and culture.
Grammy Award-winning guitarist Vernon Reid is probably best known for leading the band Living Colour; his rampant eclecticism encompassing everything from hard rock and punk to funk, R&B and avant-garde jazz, with his anarchic, lightning-fast solos becoming something of a hallmark. From his days of accompanying Diana Krall to his stand-out performances with Pink Martini, Dan Faehnle has received the highest praise from audiences and critics alike. There's no description more apt for Sheryl Bailey than a sizzling guitar goddess. Columbus' own Jonathan Elliott is best known as the lead vocalist for The Floorwalkers - voted best local band by (614) Magazine's 2010 Readers' Poll.
These shows are for both the layman and the enthusiast, featuring a post-concert talk with Byron and our guests covering everything guitar!
