Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven explores what it means to long for a return to the vitality and glory of an idealized past. While "nostalgia" is often summond to convey a yearning for the reclamation of something lost, for the return of some bygone era, "saudade" is at times a more appropriate description. Originating in 15th-century Portugal when friends and family were missing at sea or war - but not confirmed dead -saudade lends the sense of possibility, the potential of recovery, the likelihood of seeing them again. It offers a fissure into which the realization of return is there. Hope remains alive and well. With this in mind, Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven investigates how once-glorified and lyrical pasts - physical, mental, material, and spiritual - can again be claimed in present and future moments.
