Description:
In honor of the Columbus Bicentennial, Columbus 200, Thurber House is presenting an exhibit in Thurber Center: "James Thurber: Past, Present & Future." The key to the exhibit is a quote from Thurber himself: "Columbus is a town in which almost anything is likely to happen, and in which almost everything has."
The exhibit, which will run from June 1 to Labor Day, 2012, is free to the public. The Past section is being done in partnership with the Rare Books Division of The Ohio State University Library, and will celebrate the Columbus of native son James Thurber's youth back in the early 1900s with archival photos of the various houses where the Thurber family lived as well as photos of what's in those locations today. There will also be items from his days as a student at OSU. The present will be a video that takes a look at Thurber House over the past 25 years, and what we provide for the community. And the future will feature writings from our students on how they envision Columbus 100 years in the future.
Thurber: Past, Present & Future is delighted to celebrate the Columbus Bicentennial in words and pictures.
The exhibit is open for viewing by appointment. Please call 614-464-1032 ext 11 to schedule.
