Trash? Look Again

Friday, April 06, 2012 - Saturday, April 07, 2012

Presented By:

The Dayton Art Institute

Description:

Trash? Look Again, the latest exhibition in the museum's Experiencenter, focuses on art created from found objects and reclaimed materials. It invites visitors to look at the materials consumers so readily throw into the trash and see new ways to use seemingly useless materials. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn how a variety of artists take discarded materials and place them in a new context to make a visual statement. In addition to selected pieces from the museum's permanent collection, work by two nationally recognized artists, Michelle Stitzlein and Linda Pace, will also be on view.

Teams of 4th - 6th grade students from six Dayton area schools have partnered with The Dayton Art Institute in the development of this exhibition and are creating installations that will be on view as part of the exhibition. The exhibition also contains several hands-on activities that invite museum visitors to further explore art and its relationship to conserving the earth's resources.

Admission to the Experiencenter is included in the museum's suggested general admission.
