Cleveland Classical Guitar Society

About the Presenter:

Representing the finest in guitar performance from around the globe, the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society serves as an educator, presenter, and promoter of the art of classical guitar in the greater Cleveland community. The CCGS is committed to presenting thrilling and diverse concert experiences in Cleveland. The Masters Series has already established itself as one of the finest series in the country, with internationally renowned artists and a superior concert experience. The CCGS collaborates with many organizations in the Cleveland community including Heights Arts, Bluewater Chamber Orchestra, Les Délices, and the Cleveland Composers Guild. Through the Local Artists and Rising Stars Series the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society nurtures the many lesser-known musicians that deserve greater recognition. This series serves to promote the top up-and-coming guitarists that are based in Cleveland and beyond. Guitarists of all ages and abilities are encouraged through events such as Open Recitals, which provide an outlet to perform in front of a supportive community. In addition, master classes with visiting guest artists and other events are occasionally held to provide educational opportunities for budding guitarists. To increase community impact, the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society recently launched its education program at Lincoln West High School by providing daily guitar ensemble classes at no cost to the school or students. The students at this inner-city school come from around the world, speaking about 30 different languages, and the majority are economically disadvantaged. This year's success has led to a program expansion from 1 class previously to 5 classes for the 2012-2013 academic year. The CCGS is proud to be providing educational opportunities to young people in need.
