A bronze shard and a steel shard support a steel ball

The 1999 Crossroads of Commerce sculpture by Stephen Canneto was installed in front of the former home of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. The sculpture features symbolic materials, including solid brass and classic bronze to represent the past, an aluminum frame to demonstrate the computer technology age, and stainless steel to create two hemispheres, which hold a core of glass, to symbolize the promise of a global economy.

"Crossroads of Commerce Throughout history Ohio-at the center of America's industrial heartland- has been the crossroads of commerce "Crossroads" symbolizes the past and future roles of commerce and the Ohio Chamber in the lives of Ohio citizens. The solid stone bases and classic bronze form symbolize the past. The aluminum frame represents the rise of computer-aided technology. The stainless steel hemispheres open like a seed to reveal a core of glass; the promise of the global economy. "
