The concept of this piece is to create an armature for dramatic, dance, and musical performances in which the sculpture becomes a collaborator together with the performer(s). Freecell will design and contract the fabrication for an occupiable art installation for Guzzetta Halls atrium. The installation will be similar to a stair and will allow persons to ascend and descend into a new space created within the installation. This installation will act as a performance bridge in which students and visitors could occupy, exploring their own physical movement. The installation will make use of the space of the atrium, in particular the space above the upper floor, possibly creating a type of internal space, as well as, an overlook. The materials for the construction will be chosen in order to accentuate a tactile experience. Transparent and translucent materials such as plastic, glass, and/or metal screen will be used to allow the installation to produce minimal visual impact to the current space of the atrium.
