Trolley Bells

Artist

Name: Doug Gantt
Statement: Doug Gantt is a painter with a plan. His prolific body of work centers on several themes that are continually revisited. His thoughtful creations are often inspired by classic works or art or by historical events. Doug's figures often dominate his compositions and are surrounded by complex settings. For his piece, Trolley Bells, Doug portrays his vision of the "old Short North", during the days where Columbus was graced by elegant street cars.

Born in 1952, Doug has spent the majority of his life in central Ohio. Besides historical research and painting, Doug enjoys sewing and competing at the Special Olympics. He gets great fulfillment from exhibiting and selling his pieces around the country, and he plans to continue searching for local and national art opportunities. His work was featured at the Fresh A.I.R. Gallery in 2013 for his exhibition, Recollections and Resurrections and again in 2016 at Lindsay Gallery where he took part in a two-person exhibition.
