Statement: As an artist, I concern myself with roots, community and civic pride. In this high-tech digital world of sensory over stimulation, it is easy to overlook or ignore what is happening around us. When I am walking through the city, I am arrested with stark beauty, intimate day-to-day moments and often an element of surprise. My work strives to evoke a sense of spirit in that uniquely belongs to this place we call home. Growing up in this town, I have occupied myself with many themes-- urban decay/renewal, stark Midwestern beauty and the resiliency and tenacity of people. I am proud of the soul and spirit of this town
The Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority today owns the largest contemporary collection of local art in central Ohio. All of the pieces are on display in the Greater Columbus Convention Center, the Hilton Columbus Downtown and the three Convention Center parking garages. The collection is the result of a communitywide call for art, overseen by a committee of community members and implemented by collection curators James and Michael Reese of Reese Brothers Productions. The artists represent the diversity of the Columbus community, cutting across age, gender and race.
