Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens

About the Presenter:

Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, located in Akron, Ohio, is the former home and estate of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's founder F.A. Seiberling and his family. Completed in 1915, it is one of the most important remaining examples of an American Country Estate built by the wealth created during the Industrial Age at the turn of the twentieth century. Stan Hywet provides an interactive and educational example of history, horticulture, architecture, and preservation from the days when modern America made Akron the "Rubber Capital of the World." Today Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is Akron's oldest National Historic Landmark and an American Alliance of Museums accredited museum. The estate includes a 65-room Manor House and more than 70 acres of artfully landscaped grounds and gardens. Stan Hywet is open to the public Tuesday-Sunday (closed Mondays) from April - December. In addition to daily tour optoins, there are many special events and public programs throughout the season -- visit stanhywet.org for details.  The Estate is also available for private events, including corporate parties and wedding ceremonies, reception and photography.
