Built in 1820, this National Historic Landmark is known as one of the finest small art museums in America. The Federal period building displays nearly 700 works of art, including European and American paintings by masters such as Rembrandt, Sargent, Turner, Hals, and Whistler; Chinese porcelains; and European decorative arts. The Museum reopened in 2004 after extensive renovations. The expansion doubled the size with a new exhibitions gallery, redesigned gardens, parking, cafe and museum shop.
