Sculpture depicts the mythical griffin with both back legs in a crouched position. Front right leg and paw are extended outward making what appears to be a stopping or halting gesture. Both wings are up and pointing back toward the rear of the statue. Mouth is open, tongue extended. Tail is curled back and is resting on the left side of rump.
