The other grand dame of the street is the Kelton House, home to three generations of Keltons from the mid-19th century through the 1970s when granddaughter and famous interior designer Grace Kelton died. The Kelton House contains all original furnishings, artifacts, family papers and stories which were saved for future generations by the Junior League of Columbus. More than just a house museum, the Kelton House connects us to the Underground Railroad, Civil War losses, early Columbus history, the women’s suffrage movement, the personal stories of brides who have chosen it for their own historical moment, the Junior League’s accomplishments, including the first plans for preservation of the district … and a few ghosts who still call it home.
