This Georgian style home was originally built for Mathias Lang, founder of the Lange Stone Company. Initially, the house had four rooms, and Lang himself did all of the stone work, including the carved lintels and cut stone steps.
Over the years, the house had several owners who added additional rooms, and at one point divided it into apartments. In 1964, the Boyer family purchased the house and converted it back to a single-family home.
In the early 2000s, this home, as well as those at 225 and 233–235 East Beck, were all purchased by a single owner. The buildings at 225 and 229 were joined into one structure, and 233–235 were converted into a guest house. The new owner also built a carriage house at the back of the property.
