Unique to German Village, “Dutch Doubles” were so named because many Germans were referred to as “Dutch”, and the residences were built as “doubles” to hold two families. The first floor is divided side to side like any other double residence, but a “Dutch Double” is unique with an upstairs that is divided front to back, allowing for more standing room. With this unusual division, one family has a bedroom with a street view while the other one has a bedroom with a backyard view.
