In 1869, the Lang family purchased this lot for $500 and used it as a stone yard until 1903, when they built the Lang Stone Company Warehouse on the site. The Lang Stone Company is credited with creating many of the stone stoops, steps, and foundations still found in German Village today.
In 1997, the current owners purchased the warehouse and created a house with spectacular, soaring spaces. Their French Country-style home – which has been featured in magazines and on HGTV – is a classic example of adaptive reuse. Thanks to their unique vision, the owners have revitalized both Jackson Street and Macon Alley, while honoring the Lang family’s historic warehouse.
