A collaboration between Dan Gerdeman and Rob W. Jones, “3 Degrees Celsius” hinges around the loss of wildlife our planet will experience, including the complete extermination of at least 14 local avian species, massive fish kills caused by soaring temperatures in the water; and, perhaps, the complete extermination of Salmonids from our small coldwater streams and Lake Erie. The installation includes painted components, found objects and assemblages presented as theater (red curtains and a stage). Through this, Gerdeman and Jones illustrate the loss of avian and fish species, while including little Hints of hope throughout the painting.

“3 Degrees Celsius” is part of Art Spot, a series of 13 temporary public art installations that explore themes around climate change and conservation. Featuring 14 artists and nine locations in and around downtown Columbus, Art Spot installations are in the windows of partner businesses and nonprofits through the first half of 2023. Art Spot was co-directed by Amy Leibrand and Stephanie Rond.
